Extending the time you can safely stay in your home takes planning — the earlier the better — for whatever changes you might need to make. In this online session, Certified Aging in Place Specialist Susie Landsem will offer guidance on how to think about those changes, from minor to major. She will share her expertise and experience with the ‘why’ of preparing for aging in place, offer tips for finding the right people to help, and give a general sense of the costs that might be involved. Join us for a helpful hour that will get you started thinking about this important topic. This event is sponsored by the University of Washington Retirement Association. You do not have to be a member to participate. Zoom link will be provided to registered attendees.

If your ideas about healthy eating are focused narrowly on protein, carbs and fat, you might be missing an important set of considerations. How are you feeding your gut microbiome? Modern diets low in whole plant-based foods and high in processing may be starving these important microbes and impacting our metabolic, immune, and psychological health. Dr. Chris Damman of UW’s gastroenterology department will provide us with information about the why, what and how of maintaining gut health as we age. This event is sponsored by the University of Washington Retirement Association. You do not have to be a member to join the discussion.
