NNN Social Committee Kicks Off Multiple Events this Fall

In October, NNN offered 29 separate social activities, with 138 people choosing to participate. Did you join us? If not, you can be sure you were missed! Check out these upcoming options.

Walking for Fun, Good Health & Friendly Chats!

Thanks to our intrepid volunteer walk leaders (Margaret, Anne and Sandy) NNN offered 17 walks around favorite stomping grounds in October. As we move into our traditional season of mist, rain and wind, remember that walks take place rain or shine! No need to register! If you want to be sure someone will be there to walk with you, check out the Events page on our website to confirm if any times, days or locations have changed.

Music & Games & Books - Great Way to Enjoy the Fall Season

Thanks to NNN volunteer host Sharon L. for introducing us to live music at Third Place Commons. Sharon brought the games of Apples to Apples and Mexican Train Dominoes. What a blast!!! We met at the Commons for live music twice and decided that we LOVE the idea, the music is fantastic, but it was too loud to allow for visiting. So, we’re going to switch things up a bit! We’ve decided to try out GAMES WITH NNN AT THE COMMONS! We’ll meet in the afternoon (maybe once or twice a month on a Wednesday). Let us know if you’re interested and what games you like! Send your comments to social@northwestneighborsnetwork.org. Watch for upcoming news about details. It’s a great way to meet people while having fun.

The NNN book club, led by volunteer Eileen C., meets via Zoom on the 4th Monday of each month. In October, ten readers enjoyed discussing The Four Winds  by Kirstin Hannah. November's book is Still Life, by Louise Penny. For more information, contact info@NorthwestNeighborsNetwork.org.

Dunn Gardens Tour, October 22, 2021

Small Group Tour in the Garden

The Dunn Gardens Docent Tour was wonderful! The rain held off, the fall colors were stunning throughout the gardens, and we enjoyed learning about the history of the gardens while we walked the incredible grounds of this local gem.

If you’re interested in joining future tours, please make sure you register early. Our tours are deliberately held to a small number of participants so we can enjoy the event while also getting to know each other better.

The dialogue will be recorded and shared with those who registered.

Learning Together: Special Event Was A Great Success!

Working with our Outreach Committee, NNN Board member Dr. Robin Fleming arranged and hosted a special event in conjunction with the UW Bothell School of Nursing. On October 15th, over 150 people attended the one hour on-line town hall with Dr. Vin Gupta, “ Preparing for a Post-Covid Future: Implications for protecting the health of seniors.” The Outreach Committee also arranged for a special in-person opportunity just for NNN Members and Volunteers to gather at the Edmonds Waterfront Center. Those who came enjoyed cookies and a lively after-event discussion. Feedback from all attendees has been overwhelmingly positive.

We wished the dialogue could have gone longer! If you missed the event, follow this link:  Virtual Town Hall Recording or paste this URL into your browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0W0URFd6cxc&t=19s

NNN wishes a very Happy Birthday to our members and volunteers born in November!! Inza A., Suzy C., Kate C., Pablo D., Marietta M., Jude M., Cynthia O., Margaret S., Joy W. and Dori Kay Z.

Time to Change Your Medicare Plan? Act by Dec 7

Medicare's annual election period (AEP) for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2022, is in full swing, but enrollment will be open for only a few short weeks.

What Is The Medicare AEP? Medicare AEP began Oct. 15 this year and will go through Dec. 7. During this six-week period, anyone with a Medicare plan can change existing coverage to better suit their prescription and medical needs. Should you enroll in a new plan during this time, your new coverage will take effect on Jan. 1, 2022.

It's important to review any changes your current Medicare health and drug plan may have made to its benefits, premiums or coverage options. These changes will be outlined in "Evidence of Coverage" (EOC) and "Annual Notice of Change" (ANOC) forms you'll receive in the mail. If your current coverage is meeting your medical and prescription needs, there's no further action to retain the same coverage you've had this year. However, there are a few circumstances in which changing plans could greatly benefit you and put money back in your pocket. https://www.medicare.org/articles/aep-checklist/

NNN continues to serve our members and help them age well in their own homes. We follow the latest CDC guidelines to keep our members and volunteers safe. As always, if you need anything, please call our volunteer team at 253-237-2848 or email: Services@NorthwestNeighborsNetwork.org
